A pet peeve of mine. This time the culprit is Gensys Infotech based in Fremont, CA.

I received an email from a "Vivek Bhaskar" the other day to my almost brand new Broadchoice email address, offering their services along with pricing. I replied, asking how they obtained my email address since it was so new. Vivek responded that they buy lists from a third party. I told them to remove me from their mailing lists and not to contact me again.

Today, I get the exact same email introducing their "services" and requesting a phone call. I reported the email as spam and added them to my SpamCop blacklist.

Grrr!

I think I got the exact same spam today as well. Twice.

Ah yes...I also like the ones that come in that say "HOT REK - Pls respond immediately". I always feel like sending them a note that says "If you can't figure out how to type an email with correct grammar, I really don't want any more of your listings"

I think it would be interesting to aggregate a list of recruiters (firms / people) that have been less than professional and publish them somewhere as a point of reference and as motivation for recruiters to be more professional

I couldn't agree more. The "technical recruiters" are only giving themselves a bad name when doing such things.

It always baffles me how may "technical" recruiters aren't technical at ALL. I don't expect them to be C++ gurus, but perhaps spending 5 minutes on whatis.com before contacting a candidate will help them filter the resumes better (and thus waste less of my time)?

Last month at the SACCFUG meeting we had a recruiter show up to advertise his services. The first words out of his mouth were something to the affect of "Coldfusion is a brand new language". We quickly informed him that we're on version 8 of CF, and it's not new at all. Needless to say, he didn't stay until the end of the meeting, and I think his cards were used as tickets for the tshirt raffle, then thrown out. :)

@Eric, I suspect there would be legal ramifications of trying to host such a public blacklist. We can individually post our personal experiences - the truth is a perfect defense against legal action - but a third party site is always essentially relying on hearsay. Dangerous ground.

@Nolan, yes, unfortunately too many recruiters rely on a numbers-based, scatter-gun approach to things and I don't have much time for those types. After all, I would not be very comfortable attending interviews set up by someone who clearly doesn't understand me or my skill set!

Recruiters who send me job profiles for positions for which I'm totally unqualified for - they truly drive me up the wall. In fact, almost all recruiters.

I've had to stop using a lot of the job boards (Dice, CareerBuilder) because I get spammed constantly by recruiters emailing me for positions I'm not qualified for, or for locations that I have no interest in (despite specifically listing where I'm interesting in working).

These idiots just contacted me yet again today with another identical form letter from a Neel Kapur.
