I've been toying with the idea of doing a podcast for a while and over the last week I've been actively soliciting feedback on the subject. I'm thinking of doing something that is primarily interview-focused but short (under 20 minutes). The (excellent)
ColdFusion Weekly already covers the news so I'd mostly steer clear of that but I might wax lyrical about certain technical topics near to my heart. Would folks be interested in a podcast from me? Would you like to be interviewed by me?

If you can find the time I think it's a superb idea. So would you then be the Larry King of the Coldfusion world ;<)?

Include me in - I thought you came over pretty well on the CF Weekly interview a couple of months back (delivery is crucial for podcasts in my opinion)

I say go for it!
I'll be more than happy to be interviewed, although I have no idea what I have to talk about. ;)

I say go for it, see what happens. I know I would listen (especially now that I have my HoF FireFox toolbar with built in PodCast module). The way I see it, if you talk for 20 minutes and I take one thing away from it, that's good enough for me! I am of the philosophy that I should throw everything against my brain and see what sticks.

I would listen to that fanatically. I've always enjoyed hearing you as subject of interviews. I like the interview idea and the length sounds good.

I would certainly subscribe to that!

I would not like to be interviewed by you (that would put everyone to sleep, me included), but I would definitely subscribe to your podcasts. I recently took a job where I have to commute for the first time in 10 years, and I am starting to get why these are so popular. Radio sucks!
I say bring them on, Sean.

I like the idea of keeping it short, I would definitely listen.

I think you have an opportunity to make a podcast series that isn't as "throw away" as many others are. There is plenty of room for the "topic of the moment" style podcast, but I think given your depth of experience and access to heavyweights both in the community and inside Macr...er, Adobe, you could create content that is valuable for developers well beyond the week you happen to to record it. I think too often the podcast format is used with an assumption that a) it must be timely and b) everyone should be listening to the same ones at the same time. I think podcasting would also be excellent for things structured more linearly, where everyone can start "from the beginning" and listen through a series (and/or have a custom queue the way ITConversations does) -- that would be a huge contribution to the community rather than yet another random interview podcast.

I'd definitely listen to that ;o)
That and I'd happily be interviewed by you... :oD
Sounds like a lot of fun.

Sounds like a great idea, I have been toying with the idea with Peter Bell (mainly doing a CF OO 101 podcast, to get people into OO development). I can put my hands up as an interviewee :)

Yes, please! I would definitely listen in each week. I'd really like to hear interviews and panel discussions on certain topics. The most educational part to attending a conference is sitting around with other attendees discussing key issues. Unfortunately, those are far and few between. I'd love to hear discussions and interviews on some of the more current topics.

I'd be interested in listening to a podcast as you described above.

I'm always for having more coldfusion podcasts. I'd put that in my ear.

I've also toyed with the idea though, to be honest, I've been leaning towards skipping podcasting and going straight to videao-casting via Brightcove or something similar.
That said, personally I appreciate your insights regarding CF and its place in the IT world and think that podcasting wouldn't be a waste of your time. I'll definitely check them out if you begin posting them.

You're right in that ColdFusion Weekly covers most of the news already. I'd be interested in a podcast from you interviewing some of the 'movers and shakers' in the CF/Flex/Apollo world. Maybe bi-weekly to give you enough time to work on lining up the interviews and being able to get the podcast together.

Yes, Sean, I'd be interested! In listening, that is, unless you think a humble little developer like me should be interviewed, in which case at least half the interview should be about UK post punk records. cf_fall? cf_throbbingGristle? ;)
Go for it, sir! Happy podcasting!

Sean, I think it would be great if you do a short podcast, love to hear interviews with other CF developers. Great idea.

Another CF podcast would be very cool. The loss of The Coldfusion Podcast has defintely left a hole in my lineup!

OK, I think I get the message :)
I had a nice vacation in Montana and came home to 35 "yes" comments... thank you all.
I have actually starting playing around with audio editing and some setup and I have notes for show format and about a dozen potential interviewees... just in case anyone was actually interested in listening to me droning on about technology :)
It will be a while before I get organized enough to plan this out but I *will* be creating a podcast...

Excellent! Good choice Sean, I will be waiting for this one for sure!
BTW, you didn't think everyone would actually say "no way you suck!" Did you? (That would be my podcast...)

Hi Sean,
What would be nice (and probably re-enforces a few points above) is that you could tackle a question (or questions) which would otherwise take too long to cover as part of the ColdFusionWeekly podcast (say a CFQUERY becomes a CFLecture)
oh and interview a few people from GREAT Britain too ;-)

Hey Chris,
Actually . . . You and Dave - the ColdSpring podcast?! If there is one area that we all need to learn more about it's the cool DI/AOP stuff you can do with ColdSpring. Any chance?

I'm very late to this post, but I'd like to add a double yes to the list. If your interview on the Coldfusion Weekly podcast and the myriad of topics you seem to cover on here are anything to go by then it will be a great addition to my podcast rota.
