Introduction

One thing that Wolverhampton should be famous for is innovation. During its recent industrial past it has produced many inventors and entrepreneurs who have developed advanced products that are second to none.

In the 1950's a Wolverhampton company produced all kinds of photographic equipment, including top quality 35mm cameras which outclassed most of the competition. The company was K. G. Corfield Ltd who were based in Merridale Street and became the country's leading 35mm camera manufacturer. What follows is a description of the company and its products. I must thank John E. Lewis for all of his help and enthusiasm, and for allowing me to use material from his excellent book "Its by Corfield it must be good". I would also like to thank Sir Kenneth Corfield and his brother John who have been most helpful. Finally, last but not least, I thank Janice Endean for finding the camera details and specifications.
