Clojure/West 2012 Presentations

March 26, 2012 ·

When I wrote my summary of the conference, I forgot something very important: you can download nearly all of the Clojure/West 2012 presentations from github. Some of the files are quite large so you may not be able to simply view the raw PDF on github - you will probably have to clone the repo locally.

Hi Sean. Thanks for the link. I went through your preso carefully, and note that you're using Clojure for persistance. Have you found inserts and updates to mySql to be significantly more performant using Clojure than via ColdFusion query tags? I've got a potential bottleneck there in an app I'm building and I'm wondering if Clojure might help.

@Nando, the difference between CFML's cfquery and persistence via clojure.java.jdbc is minimal since both hit a Java PreparedStatement just behind the scenes - any bottleneck is going to be in your SQL at that point. We get performance benefits from Clojure in other areas. And we get the benefit of things like lazy sequences, of course.

If you have a bottleneck, you need to profile your app to find out where it that bottleneck is.
