"Borrowing" WiFi a Crime?

An interesting case in St Petersburg, FL about a man charged with "unauthorized access to a computer network, a third-degree felony" for camping outside someone's house and using their (open) wireless network. It raises some interesting questions and, of course, highlights how important it is to secure your wireless network!

    I posted something about this kind of thing a while ago (http://andyjarrett.co.uk/andy/blog/index.cfm/2005/4/Cancel-broadband-Theres-free-wifi-to-be-had).

    Its a problem which is only going to get bigger. Personally i think there shouldn't be an option for unencrypted connections - or at the very least it should be something you have to opt-out off rather than setup.
