kadoink public beta

October 13, 2007 · 1 Comment

kadoink is now in public beta (previously you needed an invitation). What is kadoink? Think: multimedia Twitter/Pownce for your cell phone plus calendar plus a whole bunch of other stuff. kadoink lets you initiate multi-way calls to friends using just their nicknames and keeps all the phone numbers hidden. kadoink also has a series of cool Flex widgets for your web pages that expose many of the service's features. Why am I mentioning it? Because it's powered by ColdFusion and uses JMS messaging under the hood as part of a complex, multi-technology integration of call management, SMS, audio streaming etc. Via Dot Matrix.

took a look at the site. its great to see how its using CF. The features look pretty cool, though im not sure how or why I would use any of it, as it clearly seems to be targeting the Myspace generation Im ok with that.

With that said, the site would seem a took complicated for the avg myspace'er, and Im not sure they'll get it. The site could really use a usability overhaul to better direct the flow. Importing contacts would also seem to be a must have, and a great place to start.

    my .02
