Railo Free-Oh!
September 9, 2008 · 6 Comments
Gert Franz just announced the release of Railo 3.0 and one of the important changes for many CFers is that this release combines the previous Community and Professional editions into a single free edition with no restrictions for use (it's a single "web" with no multimedia support, no clustering support and some server administrator restrictions but there's always the commercial Enterprise edition if you need those features).
Railo 3.0 features improved compatibility with ColdFusion 8 including cfimage, cfdbinfo, cfpdf, cfzip, attributeCollection=, native JSON support and JavaScript-style operators.
In addition, Railo 3.0 now supports Amazon S3 as a native resource type and introduces a task manager feature that can be driven by extensions to the cfthread tag.
All-in-all, a very compelling release from Railo!

So what's the difference between this and the announced Railo 3.1? The packaging with JBoss?
