Adobe Announces Availability of Acrobat 8 Software to Rave Reviews from Customers! It's a great new release (we've been using it internally for a while and I am very impressed with this new version). It's also the launch of Connect which is what my team has been working on: a Flex 2 trial signup application, backed by ColdFusion, leading to the new always-on, personal meeting room that is Connect. A simpler user experience than Connect Professional (the new version of Breeze) at a very reasonable $39 per month - although you can get a free trial through the end of the year right now!

Just downloading. But download page does not work on Firefox 2. It tries to do something but loops forever.
I used IE 7 to start download.
Just my 2 cents. :)

@Oguz, Firefox 2 (OS X) works fine for me although I'm hearing all sorts of reports of problems with Firefox 2 right across the board (across lots of websites).
@Mark, yup, for now. en_us is often the first geo to get a new product. Other locales typically follow over a period of several months as content is localized etc (different geos have different legal requirements, different e-commerce requirements and so on).

Hey Sean. First and foremost, congrats on the release! My signup went smoothly and it was a very fluid, easy experience. However, my co-worker is having a problem signing up (FF2, BTW), and while I'm not asking for help resolving it, I do want to point out that you guys are using a Site Wide error handler! He gets this error screen:

Tsk Tsk! ;)
Again, congrats on the release. This is such a sweet offering!
(PS, you don't need to post this comment. I just wanted to give you a heads up.)

@Dave, that's on www.adobe.com which Web Team run - it's not on my team's systems (which do indeed have a site-wide error handler to prevent such issues!).
I've heard a few people having problems with a number of sites with Firefox 2.
If your co-worker can send me steps to repro the problems they are seeing (via the contact form on this site - or give them my email address), I'll pass it on the appropriate team.

I recently updated to Acrobat Reader 8 and it won't open any pdfs in Firefox 2.0.0.2. I tried reinstalling, but that didn't fix it. It will basically just load a blank page and just sit there. With IE7 I get an adobe error message but then it will go ahead and open the file. It's weird. I wish I would have waited to update!

@Nicki, can you provide details about the "adobe error message" you see in IE?

@Nicki,I remember same kind of behaviour but it was fixed after updating latest one. Adobe auto update software is annoying but a working one. :)

I'm having the same problem as Nicki. Firefox loads a blank page but with IE I get the error message, then it opens the pdf. I tried reinstalling Adobe 8. Didn't help. Any ideas as to a fix?

Hi, I'm using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional, and it will open some pdfs, but sometimes it says there is an error 14 and it can not open the file, or it says there is an error 109 and can't read the file. Any ideas? thanks

@Amy, how are those PDFs created? If they are created by non-Adobe software, perhaps the format of the document is incorrect?
You might also want to check the security properties of the PDF (after you open it) and see whether copying is disabled - that's often the cause of error 109 according to Google.
